Quiet Tempest Reptiles

First Clutch on the Ground. Mar 19, 2011

March 19, 2011

Freckles, my het burgundy, laid her clutch late last night/early this morning. Until she uncoils, I don't have a definite egg count but I believe there are 7 or 8 eggs beneath her. She was paired with Dragon, my mojave, as well as Makalo, my pastel. I saw several locks with the mojave but none with the pastel. I guess we'll just have to wait and see who sired this clutch.

** Edit **

There are a total of 8 eggs, no slugs.

Things are Looking Good

March 2, 2011
My new camera finally arrived the other day and I got a few pics of the girls. Both Freckles and Dewshine are very obviously gravid so it's only a matter of time before they lay eggs. The rest of the girls are not too far behind them and are still in the "building" stage.

Dewshine (with Dragon)

Freckles (due to lay in a few weeks)

Ailynn (with Makalo hiding under her)

Kyriel (locked with Hercules)

Henna (with Alchemy)

Some Progress

January 27, 2011
Some of my females are glowing and are definitely building now. Unfortunately, my camera is dead. Nothing to be done for it. The lens piece is stuck in a closed position and the camera won't power on. *sigh*  I'll have to start looking for a new camera at some point in the near future. Hopefully I'll have a new one before things get more exciting with the projects.

Freckles is currently a pretty toffee color and blushing all over. She's getting huge and lingering on the cool end of her enclosure. She stopped eating around two weeks ago. I've been pairing her with Dragon (mojave) fairly regularly though I did try her with Makalo early on - never saw anything happen then. I'm looking forward to whatever she produces because it may lead to a burgundy or burgundy combo project in the future. Smile

Dewshine actually looks a lot like a mojave right now because her colors are so faded now. She's also getting really chunky but has been staying over the heat tape. She stopped eating about two weeks ago. I don't think she's ovulated yet because I've been keeping tabs on all the girls regularly. I suppose I could have missed something, though. She's been paired with both Makalo (the submissive pastel) and Dragon (mojave).

Ailynn is definitely getting big. I had to get her out and show Brianna just how big her baby has gotten. Her colors still look fairly normal but her head is starting to look more faded. She's still feeding normally. She was paired early on with Makalo (pastel) and then with Dragon (mojave). We'll just have to see what happens.

Kyriel isn't glowing yet but is getting chunkier. She hasn't stopped feeding yet. She went late last season and I expect she'll go a bit later than the rest again this year. She's been paired solely with Hercules, Pam's piebald.

Henna is going into a shed cycle right now and it's kind of hard to tell if she's glowing yet or not. She's already pale. I'm not even sure what to look for in a glowing albino. She is getting bigger, though, and stopped eating a week ago. She's been paired solely with Alchemy, Pam's het albino. Wink

Boys Borrowed

November 12, 2010
Here are some pics of the males my friend generously loaned to me.

Hercules is gorgeous but his belly is starting to go pink and his color is a bit dull today so I expect him to shed soon. I'll be sure to get more pics after he does.

Alchemy is really nice. He's so dark and handsome. I'm so looking forward to pairing him with Henna. He's sure to produce some stunning albino babies!

Breeding Loan

November 1, 2010
A good friend of mine, Pam from PythonPassion.com, has loaned me two of her breeder males so that she and I can produce a couple snakes that we've been wanting to add to our collections. The first is Alchemy, a beautifully dark black backed het albino. The second is Hercules, a very handsome low white piebald. They are settling in and I'll see about getting some pics of them up in a few days. I will be pairing Hercules with Kyriel and Alchemy with Henna this season.   :)

Babies are eating on their own =)

October 24, 2010
Just a quick update:
All four of the 66% het pied babies are eating on their own. Just have to get them off of mouse hoppers and onto rat fuzzies.  ;-)

my little pile of morphs

I can't wait for my little ones to grow up!

New Babies!

September 24, 2010
The het pied x het pied clutch FINALLY left their eggs. Unfortunately, there are no piebalds among them - only 66% het pieds - but they all have beautiful belly markers. The only problem I've spotted is a tiny kink on the tip of one tail. I will sex these guys after their first shed and see about getting them started on feeding.

Introducing Spyra

September 18, 2010
Last night I was able to pick up my new spider ball baby. She's really cute and I'm looking forward to growing her up. Since Brianna helped me to win her in my friend Pam's raffle contest, I let her think of a name for her. She decided to name her Spyra. Not what I would have chosen, but I'm happy with it.
